Abstract

Abstract

Lebanese society is characterized by a distinct religious and ethnic diversity, with each group preserving its heritage and cultural framework. This has significantly contributed to the formation of a societal identity that has influenced the foundations of political performance, leading to a negative impact on various aspects of governance. The administration of power has been entrusted to actors with sub-national orientations, thus undermining constitutional principles in favor of sectarian distribution. This has allowed for multiple authorities upon which the mechanism of governance is based, in addition to interference and overlap between the activities of constitutional authorities in order to entrench the sectarian approach in various official institutions. This has resulted in the slowdown of governmental achievement and the faltering of the foundations of political and social stability, which has affected the effectiveness of the political system and the harmony of its components. Because of these factors, which have cast a shadow over the Lebanese political reality, this research is dedicated to finding politically progressive and stabilizing solutions based on strengthening national belonging and activating the components of civil society as an entry point for the successive solutions identified in this research.
